HLTAID012 – Provide First Aid in an education and care setting

this course is delivered in partnership and under the auspices of Allens Training Pty Ltd RTO 90909

Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting is a new course, which is ideal for educators, support staff, carers and parents.

Expected Duration: 8 hours

Modes of delivery:

  • Blended delivery: 6 hours face to face with 2 hours self paced learning
  • Refresher training. 6 hours
  • Online training with face to face assessment of 1 hour with the addition of 6 hours of self paced learning to be completed prior to attending the face to face course 

Assessments conducted during face-to-face training session(s) include:

  • Performance tasks –
    • Perform CPR on an infant
    • Anaphylaxis (allergic reaction)
    • Choking with airway obstruction
    • Head injury/ Unconscious breathing casualty
    • Bleeding and shock
    • Snake or funnel web spider bite
    • Sprains and fractures
    • Seizures and epilepsy, including febrile convulsions
    • Poisoning and toxic substances
  • Practical scenarios –
    • Perform CPR on a child
    • Perform CPR on an adult
    • Breathing difficulties – Asthma
  • Documentation – The student must complete the following to the appropriate standard:
    • Incident report forms
  • Theory assessment – A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice and short answer questions. The student must complete all assessment questions.

Location: Swfaservices can provide training onsite at the workplace or the office of south west first aid services 

Fees: Fees are provided upon inquiry of the course.  Fees do not affect cancellation as they are paid at the time of undertaking the course. 

Cancellation Policy: Cancellation of any courses will be discussed and arrangements made for an alternative date and time.

Payment Terms: For individual clients, payment is required on the day of training.  For group booking, payment terms are based on an agreement between the client and service provider. Refunds are not applicable.

Entry requirements: Participants must have physical capacity to undertake uninterrupted CPR for 2 mins.

The ACECQA’s (The Australian Children’s Education & Care Quality Authority) national regulations state a requirement for emergency asthma, first aid and anaphylaxis management. HLTAID004 has been endorsed as meeting these requirements.
