Asthma: 22556VIC Course in the Management of Asthma Risks and Emergencies and the Workplace

This nationally recognised course provides knowledge about the underlying causes of asthma, the triggers, recognition and treatment of an asthma attack and how to develop an asthma action plan. The course includes a core module, Asthma Awareness, and is run in conjunction with four target modules

Anaphylaxis: 22578VIC – Course in First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis

This nationally recognised course in Anaphylaxis Awareness provides knowledge on the recognition and management of anaphylaxis, risk assessment, risk minimisation and Anaphylaxis First Aid procedures. The Anaphylaxis Awareness course is for anyone that has a “Duty of Care” for a person at risk of anaphylaxis. The course meets the requirements of Ministerial Order 90 and the Victorian Children’s Services Regulations regarding the Anaphylaxis Awareness Training required by school and children’s services staff

 

No Licensing or Pre-Requisites required.

 

Learn how to:

  1. Respond to signs of Asthma and Anaphylaxis.
  2. Asthma and Anaphylaxis Procedures.
  3. Obtain assistance and communicate the details of incident to officials.

This course will:

  • Provide staff and carers of people with anaphylaxis knowledge to enable them to maintain a safe and healthy environment.
  • Raise awareness about allergies and anaphylaxis amongst staff, carers, parents and the community.
  • Actively involve staff, carers and parents to ensure they are able to assess risks, develop risk minimisation strategies and management strategies for an individual person in their care with anaphylaxis.
  • Ensure staff and other relevant adults caring for a person with anaphylaxis have adequate knowledge of allergies, anaphylaxis and emergency procedures.
  • Facilitate communication to ensure the safety and wellbeing of a person at risk of anaphylaxis.

This course covers:

  • Asthma Victoria guidelines, State and territory regulatory requirements and industry practices.
  • Stress management in times of crisis.
  • Anatomy relating to Asthma and Anaphylaxis.
  • Duty of care requirements.
  • Accessing emergency services.
  • Procedure and application for Asthma and Anaphylaxis.
  • Relevant workplace hazards.

Modes of Delivery:

  • Face to Face – 6 hours (minimum) full face to face course
  • Blended delivery – 4.5 hours (minimum) face to face course with the addition of 2 hour self-paced learning to be completed prior to attending the face to face course
  • Online delivery with face to face Practical assessment – self paced online learning with a scheduled 30-minute face to face practical assessment
  • Refresher training – 4.5 hours (minimum) face to face course – conditions apply for this option, for example, you will need to provide previous current certificates

Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks. These are detailed in the section following.

Location: Swfaservices can provide training onsite at the workplace or the office of south west first aid services 

Fees: Fees are provided upon inquiry of the course.  Fees do not affect cancellation as they are paid at the time of undertaking the course. 

Cancellation Policy: Cancellation of any courses will be discussed and arrangements made for an alternative date and time.

Payment Terms: For individual clients, payment is required on the day of training.  For group booking, payment terms are based on an agreement between the client and service provider. Refunds are not applicable.

Entry requirements: Participants must have physical capacity to undertake uninterrupted CPR for 2 mins.
